Downward Dog Yoga Perth started as a group of friends in October 2022, but has grown to more than 70 people doing stretches and poses while their dogs roam free at Brighton Reserve in Scarborough.
The 45-minute sessions go from 6am every week, followed by coffees and treats for furry friends.
Rosie Thomas a 27-year-old pharmacist and her sausage dog Lucky have been regulars since last August.
“It’s a great way to meet new people, and it really brings the community together,” she said.
The furry friends are let off their leashes and play around with their new buddies whilst their owners can get into some relaxing yoga.
“With Lucky’s size I was worried she would be a little timid of the bigger dogs but she not, it’s funny watching her try keep up with her little legs”.
As the dogs run wild, they tend to get a little curious in what their humans are up to, and wander through all the attendees and give you a wet slippery kiss, which seem to be everyone’s favourite part.
“I’d love it to be every morning,” Rosie added.
A group of 22-year-old girls recently moved to the Scarborough area as flat mates and have recently joined the free doggy yoga classes.
“We aren’t morning people at all, and we don’t have a dog, so I really come to see them,” one claimed.
“I love that it’s not serious and we can just have a laugh together. It’s also free so I like that,” another added.
As the Scarborough community connects through yoga, it’s a great activity to do with friends, family, and your pets, with an early but relaxing start to your Tuesday morning.
