A notification sound. A follow request. A direct message from a stranger. For many young women, harassment and objectification have become an unavoidable part of life online. As social media algorithms increasingly promote misogynistic and sexually explicit content to young men, concerns are growing over how these platforms are shaping attitudes towards women — and influencing behaviour offline.
