ECU Vanguard is the official publication for students in Edith Cowan University’s Bachelor of Journalism and Broadcast Media and Master of News and Entertainment Media. It also features stories by students across WA Screen and Media Academy and ECU’s Creative Humanities. Our students are dedicated to building their portfolio through impactful and ethical stories.
We teach our students that embarking on a journey into the world of media, journalism, news making, and multimedia storytelling also comes with great responsibility. Journalists are at the heart of the media-making process in many ways and therefore the world needs journalists who are well-educated, open-minded and politically aware.
The aim of our program is to teach students both the practical skills to enter the workforce as well as provide them with critical theory that will equip them to make a positive difference in the world and genuine social impact.
This means fair and balanced reporting that gives voice to all members of our community.
