The Boobalicious Ball will return to Crown Perth tonight, marking 22 years of sequins, fundraising, and community spirit in support of Breast Cancer Care WA.

What began in 2002 as a small charity event at the Hyatt Regency, raising $25,000 with just 240 guests, has grown into one of Perth’s most anticipated nights of the year.

This evening, 770 guests will fill three Crown ballrooms, with organisers hoping to push total fundraising past $3 million.

A history of impact

Marketing and Event Manager Peta Evans said the Ball has been central to Breast Cancer Care WA’s growth since its early days, when the charity was still operating without an office.

“Boobalicious was instrumental in the first five to six years, helping the organisation build the foundation to expand and support more people,” Ms Evans said.

Over the years, the Ball has raised funds for vital programs, including peer support groups and financial hardship assistance.

These services operate without government funding, making the Ball’s contributions essential.

What to expect

This year’s theme, Disco Rodeo, promises the signature mix of fashion, music, and performance that has made Boobalicious famous.

But at its heart, the Ball continues to shine a spotlight on the strength and resilience of those affected by breast cancer.

Evans hinted there will be some particularly moving moments featuring clients taking part in the show, promising to be both inspiring and unforgettable for the audience.

“To see women who’ve been through such an awful journey stand proudly on stage, some without reconstruction, will be extremely powerful,” she said.

The night will also feature a live ambassador speech, auctions, and high-energy entertainment.

Celebration with purpose

While the event is known for its glamour, Evans said its success comes from the way it honours the cause with respect and authenticity.

“It’s done extremely tastefully, like a Victoria’s Secret show on steroids,” she said.

“At the same time, it’s powerful in showing that women can come through the other side just as beautiful as when they went in.”

With two decades of success and no signs of slowing down, Evans believes Boobalicious has secured its place as one of Perth’s most enduring charity events.

“We’re the only charity ball that’s gone consecutively for 22 years,” she said.

“That in itself shows we’re doing something right […] people want to keep coming back.”
